Poeciliidae Limia vittata- Cuban limia
The Cuban limia is olive-green in background color and has a bluish-grey back, silvery flanks marked with black-edged scales, and a white belly. There is a yellow patch close to the vent in females. Males have yellow-orange dorsal and anal fins marked with blue-black spots, while females have colorless fins with a few scattered black freckles. Males can grow up to 5 centimeters (2.0 in), while females can reach 10 centimeters (3.9 in).
In its native range, the Cuban limia inhabits streams, lakes, estuaries, coastal lagoons, and mangrove swamps, and can be found in both freshwater and brackish water. Its diet consists of worms, crustaceans, insects, and plant material. It often forms mixed shoals with species such as sailfin mollies and mosquitofish.
Juveniles now, these fish will mature and grow out in color and size after you have received them. Our pictures try to represent both our Sire and females of different ages to show how they may mature over time.
Your fish were born and raised with extreme care by Good Life Aquatics right here in the USA. They live in pure PNW well water with a PH of 7.6, TDS 250. Their diet consists of specialty high quality fish food from Ark BioRite and baby brine shrimp.
All young are birthed into their own species only aquarium. All of our tanks have sand bottoms, matten filters, and are home to live plants. This includes our thriving Guppy Grass and Java Moss, where the dames birth healthy fry.
