XENOTOCA doadrioi- San Marcos Redtail Splitfin

The fish your friends have never seen, making them the perfect conversation starter. These hardy little fish are native of Jalisco, Mexico.  Where they are currently listed as Critically Endangered in the wild, due to habitat destruction. NOW, You can become part of the aquarium trade trying to keep these wonderful little fish around for future generations to enjoy.

Though these can be kept in community aquarium we ask that you do not house them with other members of their same family (Goodiedae) to help maintain genetic purity.  Also keep in mind the males can become slightly territorial so have this in mind when choosing tank mates.

Males mature to 2 inches and can exhibit marvelous sequence of gold / blue / red. Especially bright in dominant males.

We are line breeding this shimmering gem to keep the colors are pure and their native relatives.

Females mature to 2.5 inches by 6 months. They have a silvery body and slight iridescent blue effect.  These fish are not shy and will eagerly come to you for feeding time. Graceful and peaceful, these fish are perfect for your rare centerpiece to cap your aquascape.

Juveniles now, these fish will mature and grow out in color and size after you have received them. Our pictures try to represent both our Sire and females of different ages to show how they may mature over time.

Your fish were born and raised with extreme care by Good Life Aquatics right here in the USA. They live in pure PNW well water with a PH of 7.4, TDS 250. Their diet consists of specialty high quality fish food from Ark BioRite.

All young are birthed into their own species aquarium and raised there for two months or until sexing. We do not use breeder cages or continuously use nets to move our fish to other tanks. All of our tanks have sand bottoms, matten filters, and are home to live plants. This includes our thriving Guppy Grass and Java Moss, where the dames birth healthy fry.

Good Life Aquatics prides itself on the health and welfare of your fish. If you have any questions or concerns, please message us!
